Ubuntu Core 20 RPi Mediacenter

Download the SD card image below

This is still all experimental !!

The image is a 64bit ARM image that can run on the Raspberry Pi 3 and 4 boards.

Download the image and write it to an SD card, boot the Pi from this SD card with monitor and mouse attached. After boot (note, by nature UC20 takes a while for the first boot, please be patient) the network and user configuration will come up, configure the network, add your Ubuntu SSO user and kodi will start.

Kodi home

The Kodi home directory can be found at:
/var/snap/kodi-pi-standalone/common/.kodi/ for any specific commandline based adjustments to the configuration.

Automatic upgrades

The Kodi snap is currently installed in "devmode", it will not auto upgrade, you have to call:
snap refresh kodi-pi-standalone --devmode --edge
manually until the image is final and all bugs and pending interface issues are found and fixed. All other parts of the system will automatically update as usual with Ubuntu Core.

Bluetooth support

Due to the fact that this image currently needs to use a modified gadget snap, one needs to manually connect the pi-bluetooth support snap to the gadget slot. So to use Bluetooth devices with this image you need to log in and run:
snap connect pi-bluetooth:serial-port pi
and reboot, then you can pair your devices via:
sudo bluetoothctl
from the commandline
